Brighton, UK – BuilderStorm
is a construction management software programme which offers a centralised
project information database. In the few years since its inception, it has
quickly risen to become a very popular construction management tool. What makes
it so desirable is the fact that it was developed by people who are actually in
the industry.
The idea of BuilderStorm
formed when a web-builder decided to use his expertise to help a friend.
BuilderStorm CEO and co-founder, David Lawrence, is a Civil Engineer with many
years of construction industry experience. He was getting frustrated by the
inefficient system of data exchange in the construction industry.
“Building and construction
usually rely on multiple teams with different tasks and areas of expertise.
Managing such a project requires coordination between these teams. If there is
even a slight miscommunication or delay in replying, it can cost dearly in time
and money”, Mr Lawrence says.
He could see that this
inefficient system was not only affecting him but also his clients, and the
other contractors who were involved. When he spoke about this with his friend,
James Sandwick, he was offered an interesting solution.
Mr Sandwick is an
experienced web-developer who suggested that a simple online page could help in
real-time status updates. This web page was built to help out a friend solve
the problem of disorganised communication. Eventually, it grew into a
multi-featured, all-encompassing construction management software programme for
Building Projects.
This product is based on
collaboration and camaraderie to solve the problem of inefficiency in an
industry. David Lawrence provides the insight into the needs of the
construction world. Having been a part of the industry for over 15 years, he
comes with a deep understanding of how it functions.
James Sandwick brings his
technical know-how to refine the features of the software to make it more
useful. He is responsible for making sure the product delivers on all its
promises. This results in a product that comprehensively takes into account the
everyday workings of the building industry and makes them smoother.
Even though the software
started out as a tool to streamline operations for Mr Lawrence, it now has an
additional advantage. The UK has decided to lead the chaotic world of
construction into a more efficient digital age through Business Information
Modelling guidelines. BuilderStorm is a great way to start phasing a company to
level 2 of BIM compliance.
Even as the market evolves
and newer needs emerge, David Lawrence and James Sandwick continue to work on
their project. The aim is to continue clubbing together their respective
expertise to refine a product that takes the industry into a more efficient
future.
